code of ethics


The following sections form the accepted Code of Ethics for Members of The Dobermann Club.
1. Abide by the Rules of The Dobermann Club and by the rules of the F.C.C and the MSPCA.
2. Keep accurate breeding records, registration papers and pedigrees.
3. All stud services and sales arrangements shall be mutually agreed upon, stated in writing and signed by all parties involved.
4. All advertising shall be honest and not in any way misrepresentative or fraudulent.
5. Maintain the best possible standards of canine health, cleanliness and care.
6. All dogs offered for stud are to be in good health and free from communicable diseases and obvious faults.
7. Only registered Dobermanns are to be used for breeding.
8. No bitch shall be bred on more than one occasion within a period of twelve months, nor prior to two years of age, and should be in good health and free from communicable diseases and obvious faults. Maiden bitches are put at risk if mated after five years of age. Veterinary advice should be sought before breeding from proven bitches of seven or more years of age.
9. Substandard or inferior animals, if sold, must be done with a written agreement to have the animal altered or papers withheld, and a ‘no breeding’ contract signed. THE DOBERMANN CLUB DOES NOT CONDONE OR PROMOTE THE BREEDING OF WHITE DOBERMANNS.
10. The Club encourages all members to Obedience train their dogs by a trainer recognised by the FCC and the MSPCA.
11. Furnish records to each buyer of all inoculations and worming, pedigree, registration and completed deed of sale document, unless written agreement is made at the time of sale that papers are withheld.
12. Honestly evaluate the quality of all Dobermanns, and fairly represent the evaluation at the time of sale.
13. All members shall conduct themselves at all times in such a manner as to reflect credit on the ownership of the Dobermann in particular.
