The club was established in 2008 by a group of Dobermann enthusiasts determined to improve the breed standard in Mauritius.

Anyone who thinks of acquiring a Doberman should first know that this breed is not for everyone - it requires consistent attention and training. It is also essential to have the ability to assess the quality of the Dobermann, because only a quality dog will grow into the wonderful pet described as the "Cadillac of dogs". We are here to help individuals and breeders in their decision & selection process.

We have our own set of criteria to evaluate dogs based on German standards designed specifically for the Dobermann breed. Our tests includes obedience, sociability and sureness trials to rate the dogs and to advise about suitability and selection for breeding. We commit ourselves to take the Dobermann to the place it deserves to be in the Mauritian mind.

The Dobermann Club is affiliated to the FCC (Fédération Centrale Canine - official regulatory body for dog breeds in Mauritius) which is currently seeking its affiliation to the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale, http://www.fci.be).

•  Improve the Dobermann dog breed, encourage its breeding, contribute to its promotion and develop its use. •  Establish and diffuse comments of standard for the intention of judges and confirmation experts. •  Establish, organize and participate in shows, exams in conformity with the regulating body of Mauritius. •  Hold a list of recommended breeders and dogs accessible to members.  read more

•  Abide by the Rules of The Dobermann Club, the F.C.C and the MSPCA. •  Keep accurate breeding records, registration papers and pedigrees. •  Maintain the best possible standards of canine health, cleanliness and care. •  Substandard or inferior animals, if sold, must be done with a written agreement to have the animal altered or papers withheld, and a 'no breeding' contract signed.  read more
